An Inconvenient Truth

May 20, 2006

An Inconvenient Truth – This film offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man’s fervent crusade to halt global warming’s deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change. In this eye-opening and poignant portrait of Gore and his “traveling global warming show,” Gore also proves himself to be one of the most misunderstood characters in modern American public life. Here he is seen as never before in the media – funny, engaging, open and downright on fire about getting the surprisingly stirring truth about what he calls our “planetary emergency” out to ordinary citizens before it’s too late.

No doubt he’s misunderstood. I guess that’s what happens when you make comments like “I invented the Internet.” 🙂 I’m not a Gore lover, but I definitely what to see this movie.

  2. Agreed 🙂 If he had only stuck with the enviornment as an issue instead of running away from it, he might have become president. Did you catch him on SNL last weekend? Pretty funny stuff.

He would have won the Presidency because the environment is such a key issue in presidential elections. Is that what you’re saying?

  4. Hi Chris. I guess I am saying yes because he wasn’t himself in that presidential race. Instead of doing what he thought was right, he listened to advisers and consultants and toned down the whole environmental crusade. So he didn’t come across as genuine and I think that cost him votes. People can spot a phony a mile away and I think people picked up on that fact that Al Gore that they saw was a ‘manufactured’. Just my 2 cents.

Derek, you want to see this movie? 🙂 Well, if you do go to see it, don’t drive the SUV, we can carpool 🙂

Damn hippies! Gore lost because he is communist fool! 🙂 I think he should grow the beard back, personally. It fits the hippy lifestyle.

Hey guys, this somehow made its way to me so I felt like adding my 2 cents.

    Hope all is well!

Hey Vinny, nice review. I definitely agree with your point about him embracing his environmental side…but another thing is I don’t think he fully understood it–it took an ego crush, and soul searching, for him to rediscover his passion and use it to the fullest.
